Fiberoptics communications systems that transmit signals using a non-inductive
glass medium instead of a metal medium (such as copper
wire) feature many benefits: wide bandwidth, high insulation,
small diameter and light weight. Because of some of these
features, these systems reduce common metal media problems such as transmission
loss and crosstalk.
To ensure the high performance of fiberoptic communication systems, there are several tests that can be made. But, to test fiberoptics installations you need instruments that measure signal attenuation and other optical properties.
